Seriously, I really am alive. Just crazy busy recovering from New York and getting ready for SF. Today, however, I'm featured over at the Dear Author reader review site. Every now and again they ask for First Sale stories and today, I get to share mine and why July's a really hot month for me, no pun intended. So if you're so inclined, go over, read, comment, even. I'll love you forever and reward y'all with lovely Cabana Boys, come Monday.

Although, here, how's about a pretty pair of pictures of Ian Thorpe? Swimmers have such righteous bods, I swear. Even in those ridiculous Speedo trunks.

And a special shout out to my personal Cabana Boy-- sixteen years and we still haven't killed each other. Wonder how many people have lost money on that bet? *g*

Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown Sued by Book Publisher

Publishers Simon & Schuster Inc. filed two lawsuits Thursday that claim the rappers were paid advances for books they have yet to turn in, the Associated Press reports.

Prior to being jailed in 2005 for lying about a shooting, Brown, 29, allegedly received $75,000 to write an autobiography called Broken Silence, due the following year.

Kim, 32, who was released in 2006 after serving nearly 10 months for a probation violation, was given $40,000 to write a novel close to five years ago, according to the publishing house.

"We are disappointed that Simon & Schuster has made the decision to file this lawsuit,” says Kim's lawyer Bernard H. Jackson III. "[She] has had every intention to fulfill her obligations under the agreement from day one but there were certain resources that are standard for any book publisher to provide that we felt were not available in order for her to complete the project."

Right. Like what? I mean, I signed a contract, was paid an advance, and was expected to produce a book by X date, without anyone holding my hand. (Full disclosure: by S&S, even since that's the parent company for Pocket/MTV Books) Seriously, dude-- your client got a lot more money than a lot of actual working authors receive for an advance. And if it was five years later and an author hasn't delivered, you can bet your sweet bippy the publisher's going to be unhappy. Suck it up, Buttercup.

(I'm guessing the "resources" had something to do with a ghostwriter. But that's just a guess.)

Other things that don't surprise me:

Bachelor Matt Grant & Finacée Shayne Lamas Split

This show does not have a good track record. Why do people keep thinking it's going to work? Why do people keep watching? Actually, does anyone watch? I only keep up via People Magazine blurbs.

Sienna Miller strikes again.

I should hope that Balthazar Getty and his wife have separated after those pictures of him kissing Topless Sienna in Italy surfaced. How many married guys does this make that she's been involved with?

And again, does anyone really care what Screech did off screen?

Okay, back to work with me.
