God help me

What the Deuce?
The Hub has started blogging.

He's [info]ifigrowup and he's all by his lonesome in the blogosphere and while part of me wants to be all heartless and shit and make him climb uphill, barefoot, in the snow, to find his own folks, I'm just not that mean.

Okay, maybe I am, but I'll cut him some slack this time.

So go, check out his first post, maybe friend him...

Poor wee lonesome git.

Brian the Bitch
I'm in a foul, foul mood and almost everything coming through my email box is capable of pissing me off beyond redemption. Especially since most of what's popped into my box so far this morning are merely "Hey, I'm blogging at the Blisters and Bunions Group Blog talking about the fab new shoes I bought for conferences, come check me out!"

On freakin' craft/business of writing loops. I mean, seriously, WTeffingF?

I'm more tolerant of people who post regularly—if they're regular contributors to these lists, and on occasion, come on and say, "Hey, you remember what we were talking about last week here? Well, I blogged about it if you'd like to offer any additional insight."

But it's the people who don't ever post who then come on, like clockwork, about once a week and say, "Hey, I've just blogged over at Big Tattoos and Glittery HooHas! Come check it out!" that make me want to Smack. A. Bitch. Hard. How much more inconsiderate of the purpose of the list and of the members on it could you possibly get?

Or how much more incredibly self-centered, to think that we're all soooooooo interested that we just live to see those posts and those posts only.

Or it could just be I'm highly cranky.

Either way, probably best for me to turn those lists off until the crankies pass. Otherwise, I'm liable to say something incredibly mean and unflattering and that in the end, I'll be sorry for, like suggesting they go shill ShamWows or OxyClean in a kiosk at the mall because you'll probably get a bigger-- not to mention more appreciative-- audience.

See? Mean.

*sigh*

Don't mind me, I'll be over in the corner kicking something.

Blogging and weirdness

New Baby
The blogging is happening over at the MTV Books blog. I'm blogging about dream vacations and what a whack job I am with respect to them.

The weirdness? I actually like the new Coldplay CD. Dammit. Well, at least I'll always have Britney to despise. I mean, while I couldn't stand Mayer and Coldplay, I did always acknowledge they had talent, even if their offerings weren't to my taste. But Brit-Brit? I don't see her actually growing talent any time soon so i feel relatively safe.

Other weirdness has to do with my beloved Alejandro (my car) having mild fits with his speaker system. There's something wonky going on in the innards, so I have to take him in tomorrow. I hope it's not one of those things they can't pinpoint without keeping him for several days. That will make me Most Displeased.

Being a blog hoppin' 'ho (again)

Stitch! Coffee!
My agent hath delved into my brayne again and yanked out a topic she feels is both timely and important.

Timely, because I'm the schlub going through it right now, important because, well, it is important, this working with your editor stuff.

So anyhoo, if'n you're interested in How Barb Works With an Editor, v 3.0, just follow the clicky linkage.

Me? I'm getting more coffee.

Leavin' on a jet plane and blog-hopping

Dreaming

Y'see that? Up there? Yeah, tomorrow, this time, that's where I'm going to be for the next week. I'll have the computer with me and I'll be checking in, but any kind of posting, probably not going to happen and you know why? Because it's my first freakin', honest-to-goodness, vacation, with the Hub, without the rugrats, in ELEVEN YEARS. Fourteen, if you consider that I was six months preggers with the Diva on the vacay eleven years ago.

I will make up for my absence on Monday with Cabana Boyz next Wednesday, in all likelihood. And I will snark on the Academy awards dresses, probably on Wednesday as well.

In the meantime, I've been a blog-hoppin' ho again— yesterday I wrote a column about this upcoming vacation and why it's so long overdue for MTV Books blog and today, I wrote about time management and my particular style of it for Lovely Agent Caren.

So go, check them out, comment, mock me for my total and complete Virgoness, which makes an appearance in both columns.

And I'll see y'all when I get back from La Jolla.

New blog to check out

Dreaming
The lovely and talented (and far more energetic than I) [info]jenniferechols got the bright idea to organize all the MTV authors together in one blog. So come, check us out-- right now we've got Jenn, myself, Stephanie Keuhnert, Christopher Golden, Jenny O'Connell, and Kelly Parra, and I'm sure others will be joining us as the word gets out.

Right now, you can read about Jenn's sickness with running and Steph's obsession with music (I knew I liked that girl!) and the one Christmas present I always wanted but never got.

What the Deuce?
And further reinforces why I just don't read that many blogs. Because stuff like this makes my blood pressure go up into places it really, really shouldn't.

Forgive me, I have to put it behind a cut because I can't even... I'm seriously just... flabbergasted, heavy on the gasted, y'all.

I honest-to-God just read this in the comments section of a blog post )

Clearly not my reader-- and can I say just how happy I am about that? Although I'm not inclined to be fair here, I will say this-- at least she knows what she likes and at least there's plenty out there to service her basic needs. I know I should probably try to woo her, come up with convincing persuasive arguments as to why all non-bland, unique romances aren't bad, but why? I mean, anyone who assumes that readers are that stupid? That they can't judge for themselves?

Feh.

And feh again.
